Before and After Photos
There are many reasons that can lead to a patient choosing to have a breast explant, or implant removal. Whether it’s a change in lifestyle, a change in body shape, or down to an associated illness or condition, breast implant removal is a popular solution.
Sometimes breast implants are no longer suitable while other times patients can suffer with uncommon issues such as implant rupture, capsular contracture, or ‘breast implant illness’. Patients may also have concerns about BIA-ALCL and prefer for their implants to be completely removed rather than replaced.
All of these are common experiences Doctor Fazel knows much about.
About En Bloc Capsulectomy
En Bloc Capsulectomy surgery will remove the entire capsule that surrounds an implant. The operation takes between 60-90 minutes and can be completed within a day, with patients able to return to work and resume normal activities within 4-5 days.
En Bloc surgery is usually required when the body reacts to an implant and forms a thin film around it. This film can become thick and uncomfortable, and can contract which changes the shape of the implant.
Other reasons for opting for En Bloc implant removal is when a patient has concerns over Breast Implant-Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA–ALCL), or ‘Breast Implant Illness’. To date, there has been no link determined between breast implants and the apparent autoimmune diseases related to the condition known as ‘Breast Implant Illness’. However Doctor Fazel recognises the distress such a condition can cause.
