High Intensity Focused Ultrasound London

The treatment is performed with the patient awake. A hand-held device which emits a precisely controlled and focused beam of ultrasound is placed on the skin. An ultrasound beam passes through the outer layer of the skin to reach to the deep SMAS (muscle) layer at an even and controlled temperature. This action is instrumental in helping to stimulate new collagen production and to tighten and tone ageing skin.

Treatments take approximately 20 minutes.

FAQ

Who is suitable for HIFU skin tightening?

Patients who have developed facial and neck skin laxity with age are often the best candidates for HIFU treatment.

What happens during a HIFU treatment?

Whilst laying on the treatment couch, the HIFU device head will be passed across the area of concern. Patients are fully-awake during the treatment and will be able to relax whilst the procedure takes place. There is no downtime so patients can return to daily activities immediately.

Is HIFU treatment painful?

As the HIFU energy is delivered to precise depths under the skin, patients may feel a tingling, stinging or heating sensation. This only occurs whilst the treatment is taking place. This sensation indicates that new collagen is being encouraged deep within the skin, indicating that the treatment is working well.

When are the results of HIFU visible?

Improvement can be seen over a course of treatment, in most cases within approximately 4 to 8 weeks. This depends on the area treated and the body’s individual response time.
