Pump up the volume with dermal fillers

If you’re worried about wrinkles, are starting to feel your age, or just want to restore a touch of youthful vitality to your face, you should be aware that there’s a treatment available that lasts longer than Botox while restoring volume to you’re the parts of your face that need it most. The treatment is dermal fillers, and the benefits are manifold…

What dermal fillers are

In a nutshell, most leading temporary dermal fillers are composed of a synthetically produced form of Hyaluronic Acid, which our own bodies naturally produce in order to self-regulate and moisturise the skin. As is the way of things, our natural supplies gradually diminish as we get older – so a dermal filler procedure is a simple ‘topping up’ of something we need that we can’t produce ourselves.

What happens during a dermal filler procedure

A dermal filler procedure consists of a consultation session – where patients get the opportunity to discuss their ageing concerns and any areas of the face, neck, decolletage or hands that they’d like to target – followed by a course of injections in those targeted areas. There may be the chance of slight bruising and swelling immediately afterwards, but nothing that can’t be easily hidden with make-up.

A long-lasting, repeatable treatment

Botox targets the lines in a client’s face caused by facial expressions by temporarily freezing the nerves that instruct facial muscles to move and the duration of results lasts from three to six months. Dermal fillersresults, on the other hand, can last for up to 18 months, and in some cases, as long as two years, depending on the patient’s individual response and the area of the face or body where the fillers are injected. In areas that are highly mobile, such as the lips, their duration may be slightly shorter.
