Microdermabrasion: the 30-minute ultimate facial

If you’re looking for a fast, convenient and painless route to facial rejuvenation – but there’s nothing in the bathroom cabinet that can do the job – we’d like to introduce you to microdermabrasion. If you have problems with acne scarring, pigmentation, open pores, blackheads, lines and wrinkles, we’d definitely like to introduce you to microdermabrasion.

How does microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion treatment involves a chemical-free, non-invasive session which effectively and safely removes layers of dead skin cells, with the use of a cutting-edge handset that deploys a harmless jet of non-allergenic crystals. This does two things: give your skin an instant appearance of healthy rejuvenation, and encourages your skin to produce a new layer – which stimulates blood flow and increases vital collagen and elastin production.

What does the procedure involve?

Your practitioner will invite you to a consultation, where your skin type will be determined, your individual needs will be discussed, and a treatment plan will be mapped out. You could have a single session of microdermabrasion, or a course of treatments that will get to the route of your skin problems – it’s entirely up to you and your skin concerns.

Microdermabrasion sessions begin with the use of a gel cleanser to ensure the skin is clean and dry, and then the handset is put to work, effective sloughing off dead skin cells and vacuuming them up. A post-treatment application of a neutral pH moisturiser prevents the fresh top layer of skin from peeling and drying out.

After a microdermabrasion treatment, you will be advised to avoid sun damage by using a moisturiser with an SPF, but that’s pretty much the sum total of your post-treatment regime. It’s a walk-in, walk-out treatment, and you’ll be able to return to your day-to-day duties immediately.
