Benefits

Arm Lift London

An arm lift is a body contouring procedure that removes excess saggy skin from the upper arm as well as around the armpit if required. Saggy skin can occur after significant weight loss or ageing. It is often very difficult to reduce this excess skin with diet and exercise alone.

Maisam Fazel usually combines this procedure with liposuction to the upper arms. An arm lift can address:

  • Skin laxity in the upper arms
  • Excess fatty tissue on the upper arms

Arm Lift London

Maisam Fazel’s arm lift operation usually combines liposuction of the upper arm with skin excision. The length and position of the scar will depend on the amount of loose skin present.

Where the amount of loose skin is confined to the armpit, Maisam Fazel may recommend a short scar alone. For cases where the loose skin extends over the length of the upper arm, a long scar running along the back of the arm or in the groove along the inner aspect is used.

Maisam Fazel plans the arm lift procedure with meticulous care and has the surgical expertise that is essential to ensure an elegant result. Patients are mobile on the day of surgery and can often return home the same day.

FAQ

Can liposuction alone be used to perform an arm lift?

If a patient has good skin elasticity and moderate amount of stubborn upper arm fat, VASER liposuction can be performed as a standalone procedure as the skin will usually retract and produce a tightening effect. If the skin quality is poor or if there is no fat present, liposuction alone will not work and surgical excision of the skin will be required.

Is arm lift surgery painful?

Most patients find that any discomfort in the few days after surgery is well controlled by simple painkillers.

What downtime can be expected after an arm lift?

The downtime after an arm lift depends on the extent of the procedure. If liposuction alone has been performed, recovery can take only a few days, but if an incision has been made along the length of the upper arm, it is recommended to take 2 weeks off work and to avoid heavy lifting for 6 weeks.

What scarring can be expected from an arm lift?

The length and position of the arm lift scar depends on the amount of excess skin removed. For a short scar arm lift, the scar is confined to the armpit. For a traditional full arm lift, the scar typically runs from under the armpit to just above the elbow. The scar will fade with time but can sometimes be seen when wearing sleeveless clothing. Camouflage creams can help blend the scar if needed.
