How soon can I have sex after my mummy makeover?Friday, November 20th, 2015, 5:02 pm
If keeping the light off, or keeping clothes on, has become the norm, then you may be eager to get on and enjoy body-confident sex after your mummy makeover. With breasts that have regained their youthful contours, and a tummy that no longer shouts about the ravages of pregnancy, the whole thing could be quite different… But how soon is too soon?
What does the recovery involve?
During your Essex mummy makeover consultation, Mr Maisam Fazel will talk you through the surgical procedure in detail. He will explain the potential risks and complications, and talk about the healing process, including what will speed it up – and what will slow it down. When you are sent home after your operation, you will have comprehensive instructions on aftercare, looking after your incision wounds, and wearing compression garments to aid healing and optimise the aesthetic results. Mr Fazel encourages his Essex patients to ask questions in advance of their mummy makeover, believing they are better able to manage their recovery if they understand the implications of disregarding advice. As a general rule, you can resume most normal activities after a fortnight, but strenuous activity should be avoided for longer – so the key with this question is that gentle sex is fine, but save the acrobatics for later.
Listen to your body
It is important to bear in mind that a tummy tuck involves invasive surgery and you need to allow your abdominal muscles time to repair. The abdominal and breast areas will feel sensitive for a while, and certainly in the first few days post-surgery you may feel groggy from the effects of the anaesthetic and uncomfortable, too. Allowing yourself time and space to heal after your mummy makeover is integral to a full recovery so do not try to rush the process.
